Pueblo Bonito

Pueblo Bonito is the centerpiece of the Chaco Culture National Historic Park in NW New Mexico. Built between about 850ad and 1150ad by the ancestral Puebloan peoples, it is the center of the Chacoan Culture, which influenced a large area of the Southwest. It was abandoned after a long drought and increased hostilities. It is now generally thought to have been more of a ceremonial and trading center than a residential complex.
